Welcome to Part 4 of our Video Call Tips Series, our final part.
We’re going to take a look at perhaps the most important aspect of a video call and that’s lighting.
Lighting is really important to the experience of your viewers be it for a talk session, lesson, talk, or webinar. The difference between insufficient and sufficient lighting can be enormous. Sufficient lighting often makes the virtual session more pleasing on the eye, increasing concentration for viewers. Insufficient lighting however can make viewers have a really bad viewing experience, tempting them to be driven away from the session entirely.
So here is how you can ensure that you have sufficient lighting.
1. Take advantage of natural light.
The best thing about natural light from the sun is that it’s good for your health and totally free.
2. Invest in Selfie LED lights
LED Lights can come in handy especially if you are recording or having a session at night, or having a webinar in the evening due to viewers or clients being from a different time zone from you. They are also inexpensive compared to camera lights and often work with smartphones and laptops.
3. Invest in Camera Lights
Much like Selfie, Camera lights use LED technology and can come in handy if you need that extra lighting or happen to be recording past sunset. However, camera lights are much more powerful, more expensive, and are less mobile than Selfie LED lights.
